Pune: The city police have served a show-cause notice to the owners of a popular pub in the Kalyaninagar area, asking why its licence should not be revoked owing to various lapses. Pune police commissioner Amitesh Kumar issued the show-cause notice on Friday stating that the pub owners had regularly violated various rules, as well as terms and conditions of the licence issued to it. “There was deliberate disobedience of the terms and conditions and directions of the police authorities,” the notice stated.

The notice also stated that there was a threat perception to the pub as large number of people visited it on weekends. The pub has been given a timeframe of 10 days to respond to the notice. On May 19, a Porsche Taycane car hit a motorcycle leading to the death of two techies.

The accident had taken place in front of a pub, which was also served a notice by the police then. TOI on Saturday called up and sent a message to an official of theKalyaninagar pub but there was no reply from the official till going to press. A few pubs and discotheques had started functioning in the city last week following a gap of almost three months following the police crackdown on illegal establishments.
