After being boarded up for several months, a 'luxurious' new store will open to shoppers on Birmingham New Street next week. Rudell is opening its first city centre shop 86 years after the West Midlands company was set up. The jeweller launched its first branch in Wolverhampton on Valentine's Day in 1938 followed by a second in Harborne in 1986.

Rudell's managing director Jon Weston said he had 'been looking for the perfect premises' in Birmingham city centre for some time, 'but no where had the right feel to it, until now'. The long-running firm is moving in to the old Suit Direct unit at the entrance to the Burlington Arcade after the suit retailer relocated to Cannon Street. Hoardings have covered the premises for several months, telling passers-by that the new jewellery shop would be 'opening soon', while a refurbishment was carried out inside.

A sign in the window confirms that the store will open for the first time in time for the Christmas shopping rush on Monday, November 11. Rudell's New Street branch will be set across two floors, spanning 4,000 square feet, and will stock some of the world's most prestigious jewellery brands as well as iconic designer names.

Products will include watches, engagement rings, bracelets, necklaces and earrings. Rudell.
