Monday, December 16, 2024 Shanghai Airlines launches a new route connecting Kuala Lumpur with Jilin and Shanxi provinces, boosting travel convenience and strengthening tourism ties. Representing Tourism Malaysia, Deputy Director General (Promotion II), Mr. Lee Thai Hung, joined officials from Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB) and Shanghai Airlines in welcoming 150 passengers aboard flight FM813.
This flight arrived at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) from Changchun, the capital of Jilin province in Northeast China, with a stopover in Yuncheng, Shanxi province. Shanghai Airlines, a subsidiary of China Eastern Air Holding Co. Ltd, now offers daily flights to Kuala Lumpur and Kota Kinabalu, along with thrice-weekly services to Penang.
The latest route, connecting Changchun and Kuala Lumpur via Yuncheng, operates on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays using a Boeing 737-800 aircraft. This newly introduced flight enhances accessibility for travelers from Jilin and Shanxi provinces, making Malaysia a more convenient destination for air travel. By October 2024, Malaysia recorded 2,822,247 arrivals from China, representing a remarkable 139% increase compared to 1,180,980 arrivals during the same period in 2023.
For 2024, Malaysia aims to attract 27.3 million international tourists and generate RM102.7 billion in tourism revenue.
