The Pogues frontman Shane MacGowan left a €1million fortune to his wife Victoria Mary Clarke, we can reveal. The singer died on November 30 last year at St Vincent’s Hospital Elm Park in Dublin – less than a month before his 66th birthday on Christmas Day. The Fairytale of New York hitmaker left his beloved wife an estate of €849,733 when he died.

The couple also owned a home together in the luxurious suburb of Ballsbridge in Dublin, which is reportedly worth a small fortune if ever sold. Shane and Victoria married in 2018 in a fairytale ceremony in Copenhagen after 32 years together. Among the intimate crew of friends and family at the wedding included Hollywood A-Lister Johnny Depp, who has been a huge support to Victoria since the rock star’s death. It was previously reported that MacGowan raked in most of his fortune in royalties from The Pogue’s much-loved 1988 festive hit Fairytale of New York.

The song made him €250,000 to €300,000 a year, according to Business Plus. Victoria and Shane didn’t have children, with Victoria admitting last.
