Seven carpet stores in Sussex are set to close this week despite a deal to save the business from administration. Carpetright stores across the county will close imminently after a deal was struck to buy the business and take it out of administration. The deal saves around 50 stores nationwide but will see over 200 others close.

In Sussex, the stores that will close are: Lewes Road, Brighton London Road, Crawley County Oak Retail Park, Crawley (Within the Furniture Village store) London Road, East Grinstead Lottbridge Drive, Eastbourne Bexhill Road Retail Park, Hastings Heath Retail Park, Horsham Four other stores in Sussex - in Hove, Newhaven, Chichester and Haywards Heath – will remain open after the deal. It was announced on Monday the flooring retailer Tapi had agreed to buy 54 Carpetright stores, two warehouses, the brand and its intellectual property in a pre-pack administration deal. However, the deal will not save the majority of the business, seeing over 1,000 people lose their jobs nationwide.
