As a victim of cyberbullying, Salaseini Seruvatu hopes the Vodafone Nasinu Festival platform will give her an opportunity to advocate for change. Sponsored by Ozone Electrical and representing Nadera, the 19-year-old Savusavu beauty plans to raise awareness of the effects of drug abuse and cyberbullying on families and youths. “My experience with cyberbullying and as a witness to the drug abuse issue in Nadera has motivated me to take action,” Ms Seruvatu said.
The University of the South Pacific student said she would like to partner with NGOs to create awareness campaigns and provide counselling and legal assistance to help provide safe spaces and support for victims. “By fostering a compassionate and supportive community, we can reduce the stigma and empower people to seek help without fear. “As I work towards my future goals of becoming a strong advocate for community issues, this experience will be invaluable in shaping me into a more effective and empathetic leader.
” Ms Seruvatu is one of seven contestants vying for the main crown. The festival is scheduled for between August 17 and August 24..
