Shafali Verma’s 115-ball 197 went in vain as Bengal chased down the enormous target of 390 in the final over to beat Haryana by five wickets in the quarterfinals of the Senior Women’s One Day Trophy in Rajkot on Monday. Haryana finished its innings with a giant score of 389-5, featuring an incredible knock from skipper and opener Shafali Verma who hit 22 fours and 11 sixes during her innings. Shafali and Reema Sisodia (58) gave Haryana a solid start with an opening partnership of 173.

However, Bengal started the chase in blistering fashion as openers Sasthi Mondal (52) and Dhara Gujjar (69) brought up the 100 in just nine overs.
Bengal always kept the required run rate under control. Tanusree Sarkar, who came in at number three, scored a brilliant century (113). Wicketkeeper Priyanka Bala (88 not out) and Hrishita Basu (11 not out) took their team over the line on the first ball of the final over.
