Representative image MUMBAI: An 18-year-old first-year Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) student was molested by her senior and then assaulted and verbally abused by him and three of his friends near a suburban railway station on Wednesday afternoon. The senior had been insisting she accept his "friendship proposal" for days and was angered as she repeatedly rejected his advances. Police registered an FIR on Aug 22 and arrested the four, all second-year BBA students.

Those who witnessed the incident in the crowded station area did not intervene when the four punched and kicked her on the road. A woman passerby eventually called the police helpline and cops reached the spot soon after. The injured teen was taken to a hospital, where she received medical assistance and was discharged.

The incident took place after the teen left her institute at 1pm. Her senior forcibly took her to a snack corner nearby. "Three of his classmates joined him and began to force me to accept his friendship.

When I walked out of the corner, he charged at me and pulled me closer to him and molested me in front of all," she said in the FIR. When she tried to escape, he began to assault her and his friends joined in. She then managed to grab a sharp object lying on the roadside and pointed it at them, warning them to stop.

Meanwhile, a woman called the police. "The institute has been informed about the FIR, and action will be taken," said a police officer. - V Narayan.
