It's known for its scenic beauty, but the seaside town of Whitby is also said to have the best fish and chips in the world. That's according to locals anyway, many of whom responded on Twitter to someone asking if it's a nice place to visit. "It’s unique and lovely.

Best fish ‘n’ chips in the world," said one. And what better way to find out than giving it a try ourselves. A quick walk down the main strip revealed endless opportunities to sample the seaside scran.

With a child not wanting to eat outside with the many seagulls waiting to pounce and a dog becoming overstimulated with all the sights and sounds that the seaside brings - not sure I've ever encountered so many dogs in one place - we decided to head indoors, to Terry's Fish Bar.
