Our previous trips to the seaside have usually meant heading west, or down to Wales, so it felt somewhat strange to be heading over the M62 towards the Humber. The journey was much quicker than I thought and in less than two-and-half hours we'd arrived at our holiday park that was to be our home for the weekend. Cleethorpes Beach Holiday Park is described as 'a Lincolnshire gem' that sits neatly on the county’s coastline, just south of the iconic Cleethorpes.

You could easily fill your time staying on the site itself, but we wanted to head to the beach too, which we did on our first day, with a short bus trip from the holiday park direct to the seafront. The tide was in close when we arrived mid-morning and while we stayed on the sand, there were plenty of people already swimming and little ones enjoying a donkey ride.
