The recent heatwave in parts of the UK has caused the Met Office to issue a level 2 heat alert after temperatures soared at the beginning of this week. On Monday August 15, conditions hit a sweltering 34.8C in Cambridge but it seems that after a slightly cooler few days, the warm weather is set to stay for a while according to upcoming forecasts abroad.

WXcharts' new weather maps show there will be a significant rise in temperatures in Iberia towards the end of the week with holiday destinations such as Lisbon and Madrid set to reach just below 40C next week. These high temperatures are good news for Brits as the heatwave is expected to drift North in the coming days. This will particularly impact parts of south east England as London is set to soar to over 28C next weekend during their bank holiday weekend.

Meanwhile, in Scotland, regions in the south east are also set to enjoy a mild few days next week with temperatures soaring to nearly 20C - which is a pleasant heat for this time of year. Glasgow is set to see highs of 19C next week while the north east and south west will see similar temperatures towards the end of the week. Despite the higher temperatures, The Met Office has also issued their long range forecast for Scotland as it seems Scots will see an unsettled start to the week with cloud and rain in many areas.

Forecasters said: "This should clear, to allow a brighter interlude midweek with showers in the northwest. The second half of next week is uncertain, influe.
