Pune: State govt ’s announcement to give 100% scholarship to research students under the city-based Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Research and Training Institute ( Barti ) scheme has left Sarathi and MahaJyoti beneficiaries unhappy. Candidates availing of schemes under Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Research and Training Institute (MahaJyoti) and Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj Institute of Research, Training, and Human Development (Sarathi) have written to the social welfare department, demanding uniform benefits for all students. While the educational qualification, quality, and process are the same in all three institutes, there is a need to implement the same policy, students said in their letter to the department.

At present, student beneficiaries of Sarathi and MahaJyoti get 50% scholarship. Pradnya Dhangar, one such postdoctoral student, explained, “In an order on Oct 30, 2023, state govt announced 50% scholarship to students of all three institutes. The students of Barti protested against that decision for the last 15 days.

On Aug 25 this year, state govt announced 100% scholarship to Barti students. But only 50% scholarship will be given to Sarathi and MahaJyoti’s PhD beneficiaries.” “Income proof is taken from all students and educational expenses are the same, so why the discrimination?” said student Nikhil Magar.

Officials at Sarathi and MahaJyoti said they are only following state govt rules. We also published the following articles recently Haryana govt school students can.
