Samantha Jade has revealed she went head-to-head with Hollywood heavyweight Kristen Stewart for an acting role in what ended up being her “worst audition ever” and traumatised the singer enough to make her never want to act again. The 37-year-old Perth-born star is known for her pop songs she released after winning X Factor in 2012 but she has also dabbled in acting and landed a few TV roles. In an interview with the newly launched YouTube series Werking With hosted by Perth’s Callan Durlik, Jade said she would love to get back into acting.

She also shared some horror audition stories including her “worst audition” for Joan Jett as the lead role in The Runaways (2010) which saw Twilight star Kristen Stewart land the role instead. “I’d love to get back into acting,” she told Durlik. “I genuinely didn’t ever start out going to think I would act, it just fell into my lap.

” Jade said when she lived in Los Angeles her US record label kept recommending the performer for “all these” auditions. “I auditioned for the remake of 90210 and I got really close, because I got so close they’re like you know you’re the ‘it girl’ for a second and they were sending me on all this stuff,” she said. Jade then recalled her failed audition for musical drama The Runaways which follows a young Joan Jett and Cherie Currie fulfilling their dream of starting an all-girl rock band.

“Kristen Stewart ended up getting the role, but, hello, Kristen Stewart to me,” sh.
