Longtime KTLA entertainment anchor Sam Rubin , who died earlier this year, received the 76th Los Angeles Area Emmy Governors Award on Saturday night, given posthumously to recognize his “legacy of more than three decades of entertainment news reporting for KTLA.” Rubin also won an Emmy in the entertainment news category, for his “KTLA Morning News” coverage of the SAG-AFTRA strike last year. The main newscast awards at the 76th Los Angeles Area Emmy Awards were split. Unlike last year, when KVEA won all three, this year the prizes were mixed.
Spectrum News 1’s “Your Morning on Spectrum News 1” won the morning (4 a.m. to 11 a.
m.) newscasts; KCAL won daytime (11 a.m.
to 7 p.m.) and KVEA landed evening for evening (7 p.

). This is now the eighth year in a row that KCET won the most. KCET was already the leader in Los Angeles Area Emmys nominations, landing 22 this year (down slightly from last year’s 24), thanks to expecially to the locally produced series “Artbound” and its “10 Days in Watts.
