Sadie Sink is admitting that she didn’t anticipate her “ Stranger Things ” character Max to be such a breakout star. The actress told Variety that after joining the hit Netflix series in Season 2 at age 14, she could not have predicted the viral adoration for her role of Max by Season 4. The cliffhanger ending for the season included Max being in a coma after facing off with Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower).

“I really didn’t think people would care all that much about her journey,” Sink said. Even when Max went viral with the “Running Up That Hill” sequence , Sink was still shocked: “I was kind of like, ‘That’s cool.'” The “A Sacrifice” actress added, “I think I’m definitely numb to a lot of things now, which is a good thing.

I think it keeps you stable.” As for returning for the fifth and final season of the beloved series, Sink admitted that she “forgot how hard” filming the Netflix show is. “I’ve been working all of last week, and I’m like, ‘Oh my God, I forgot how hard this show is,’” Sink said.

“You’re a team player here. It’s not about me. It’s not about anyone.

It’s about the show and what’s best for it.” Sink recently told Entertainment Tonight that the ensemble cast “really want[ed] to savor every moment” of working together again. “[We want to] just enjoy the time that we have together, and deliver a season that everyone’s been kind of waiting for,” Sink said.
