The Southern African Development Community (SADC) has reaffirmed its dedication to advancing sustainable development, peace, and security across Southern Africa. SADC, which comprises seventeen member states, has a rich history that began in 1980 when it was initially established as the Southern African Development Coordination Conference (SADCC). In 1992, the organization evolved into the Southern African Development Community (SADC), renewing its commitment to fostering sustainable development, peace, and security in the region.

During the 2024 SADC anniversary celebration in Abuja, Ambassador Bamoquina Jose Zau, the Chair of the SADC Group, highlighted the organization’s achievements. He stated, “SADC has made significant progress in promoting economic growth, social justice, and human development. While we are proud of our accomplishments, we acknowledge that much work remains.
