US songstress Sabrina Carpenter has candidly shared that she was "led astray" in the early days of her career, admitting she was "constantly guided and misguided". The 25 year old, who clinched the UK's official song of the summer title with her hit Espresso, opened up about the challenges she faced while trying to make a mark with her initial four albums under Disney's Hollywood Records. Carpenter, known for her track Please Please Please, described herself as "an emotional wreck" during the creation of her fifth album, Emails I Can't Send, which saw moderate success on the UK albums chart following its 2022 release via Island Records.

2023 marked a turning point for Carpenter, starting with the buzz around Espresso and the subsequent launch of her sixth LP, Short N' Sweet .Reflecting on her journey in the music industry, Carpenter told Time Magazine: "For a long time, I was constantly guided and misguided." She expressed gratitude for the experiences that led her off course, saying: "I'm so grateful for all of those times where I was led astray, because now I'm a lot more equipped going into situations where I have to trust my own instincts.
