The beloved TV personality shared a heartfelt video on social media on Thursday 22 August as he rummaged through his treasure trove of memories from his time on The X Factor , which catapulted him into the spotlight in 2012. Although he didn't nab the top spot, Rylan stole hearts nationwide after Nicole Scherzinger championed him into the live performances, and he broke down in tears at Nicole's home as he realised he'd made it.

Fast-forward to now, and Rylan has been rifling through his keepsakes from the singing contest. In his nostalgic YouTube video entitled 'Every Item I Stole (and kept) from X Factor 2012,' he produces a hefty box filled with fan mail, his first audition outfit, his acceptance letter for the show, and a signed tour memento. The emotional high point arrives as Rylan stumbles upon a letter penned by the late Caroline Flack.

Overcome with emotion, he lifts a card and exclaims: "Oh my god, I am going to cry," reports the Mirror . He reads out loud: "Rylan, massive congratulations on making it through to the live shows. Here is a gift to welcome you to your new home.

It is a lemon tree and yes we want to see your lemons by the end of the series." .
