Thursday, October 3, 2024 Passengers on a Ryanair flight were forced into an emergency evacuation after the aircraft caught fire before takeoff at Brindisi Airport in Italy today (October 3). According to reports, the incident unfolded just before the flight, FR8826, was set to depart for Turin. Flames were spotted coming from one of the plane’s engines, causing immediate concern.

Cabin crew acted swiftly, alerting the airport’s fire department, and the flight’s departure was aborted. The 184 passengers onboard faced a tense situation but were evacuated safely via the emergency slide. While the fire caused panic, no significant injuries were reported.

Passengers were quickly escorted to safety on the ground, avoiding further danger. As a result of the emergency, Brindisi Airport had to be temporarily closed, adding disruption to the day’s schedule. This airport, located in the south of Italy, typically handles over three million passengers each year and serves multiple airlines, including Ryanair and British Airways.

Ryanair has since issued an apology to the affected passengers. A spokesperson for the airline said, “Flight FR8826 from Brindisi to Turin (3 Oct) was delayed this morning after cabin crew observed fumes on the outside of the aircraft. Passengers were disembarked without incident and returned to the terminal by bus.

” The cause of the fire remains under investigation. For now, the closure of Brindisi Airport continues to impact flights, and Ryanair has.
