Irish holidaymakers bound for Spain have been issued a warning after travellers were left high and dry following a luggage debacle last Friday. After getting through check-in during the recent IT outage and making it through security, a number of passengers boarding a Ryanair flight were singled out due to their hand luggage. The passengers claim that they requested their bags be measured after disputing the size issue and even offered to pay extra for their luggage, but were denied boarding and left stranded in Lanzarote.

This resulted in a small group of people being stuck at the airport which subsequently closed, forcing them to sleep outdoors. The group included a woman who is seven months pregnant, and a 12-year-old child. Shauna Fox, who is expecting, spoke about the ordeal on Newstalk - and maintained that her carry-on complied with the Ryanair luggage guidelines, reports RSVP Live . She stated: "We got up to the gates and they told us that we couldn't board the flight because our bags were too big. I measured it; my bag fit perfectly fine.
