Saturday, September 7, 2024 The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) has introduced the “SRT Royal Blossom” train service as part of a broader initiative to stimulate domestic tourism. This new service represents a luxurious travel experience with a primary goal of encouraging both locals and visitors to explore Thailand’s rich cultural and scenic landscapes. The route includes stops at popular tourist destinations, such as Hua Hin, a location renowned for its historical significance and stunning seaside views.

The SRT Royal Blossom train originates from refurbished passenger cars once owned by Japan’s Hokkaido Railway Company (JR Hokkaido). These 10 Hamanasu air-conditioned cars were originally built in 1988 and served Japan’s northern regions until 2016. After being transferred to Thailand, the cars remained unused until 2020, when SRT initiated a major renovation project to transform them into a special tourism-oriented train.

The renovation was led by SRT Governor Nirut Maneephan, who spearheaded efforts to breathe new life into the vintage train. The redesign included updating the interior with velvet upholstery, installing LED lighting, and incorporating Thai craftsmanship into the overall aesthetic. Each car has been upgraded to provide maximum comfort for passengers, featuring modern amenities such as USB ports, wide panoramic windows, and improved air conditioning systems.

The SRT Royal Blossom train service is designed not only for transportation but also for e.
