Ronald Lynn Cutright, born on Nov. 15, 1948, in Buckhannon, passed away after a decades-long battle with cancer at his home in Morgantown on August 7, 2024, with his wife of 50 years by his side. The son of William and Charlotte Cutright, Ron was a graduate of Glenville High School in 1966.

After spending a year at Glenville State College, Ron enlisted in the Air Force where he served his country as a Russian linguist during the Cold War. During that time, he and two friends formed a musical group, A Part of You, which performed for audiences in the various countries where they were stationed. Following his years of service, Ron attended West Virginia University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism and two master’s degrees in mechanical and civil engineering.

While studying at WVU, Ron met his wife, Jayne Feola, of Buckhannon, on a blind date. The two fell in love and were married on June 8, 1974, and together they had two children, Kristen and Joshua. Ron worked with Union Carbide in Marietta, Ohio and Sistersville, then with the U.

S. Department of Energy in Morgantown before moving with his family to Worms, Germany. There, he worked for the U.

S. Department of Defense for many years while indulging in his love of travel. He often said, “Those were some of the best years of our life.

” In 1991, Ron resumed working for the U.S. Department of Energy in Morgantown until his retirement in 2013.
