In honor and gratitude for the blessings bestowed upon Rojean Esther (Von Housen) Kohtz of York, her family recalls and gives thanks for the years of love, patience, and joy she shared with us and the many friends and residents of York General Hearthstone. Rojean was born at home on the original family homestead farm in Hampton to Walter and Esther (Carlson) Von Housen. Baptized, educated, and confirmed at St.

Peter’s Lutheran church and school. She graduated from Hampton High school class of 1958. She attended the Grand Island School of Beauty and began her employment at Betty’s beauty salon in York.

She married Allan Kohtz of York on September 4, 1960 and continued hair styling until Allan was deployed during the Cuban Missile crisis. Together they raised a family of three on a farm north of York. After raising her kids, she began her ministry of hair at the Hearthstone in York.

She retired at the beginning of COVID in 2020 after 37 years. She is loved and will forever be in the memories of her husband of 64 years, Allan; daughter, Ronda and Stan Gerken of York and their four daughters, Nicole and Brian Nielsen, Cooper and Camden of Lincoln, Jennifer and Adam Scharp, Hattie and Rowan of Bennet, Ashton Gerken of Lincoln and Abbie Gerken and Shawn Keithley of Eagle; son, Steve and Lynette Kohtz and their sons Noah and Levi of West Des Moines, Iowa and daughter, Amy and Chad Cosgrove and their son Thomas of Lincoln; sister-in-law, Shirley Miller of Norfolk and nephew, Jim .
