A road that was blamed for causing a car to crash and overturn is set to be resurfaced. Southwick Street will be resurfaced next week between Southwick Square and the A270. The work will begin on August 28 at 8am and will be finished by the evening of August 30.

A spokesman for West Sussex County Council said: “From 8am on 28 August, we will be carrying out full resurfacing works on Southwick Street. "This will restore the structural integrity of the carriageway and increase the durability of the road surface. "The works are planned to be completed by the evening of August 30.” The resurfacing work comes after a nasty crash earlier this year involving a Shoreham mum and her son. Kerrie Bradshaw said she was driving along the road with her 12-year-old son Alfie on June 5 when she noticed the "bigger than usual" pothole.

The 46-year-old said she tried to swerve to go around the pothole but her back tyre clipped it, sending her Volkswagen Golf rolling in the air before landing and hitting a stationary car.
