Monday, January 27, 2025 Riyadh Air successfully completed its first test flight from Riyadh to Istanbul, marking a key milestone in its journey towards global connectivity and expansion. On January 23, 2025, Riyadh Air, the national airline of Saudi Arabia, successfully conducted its inaugural test flight with the designation RXI5014, departing from King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh and arriving at Istanbul Airport. The flight, lasting approximately four hours, marked a significant milestone as Riyadh Air gears up for full operations aligned with Saudi Vision 2030, aiming to establish routes to over 100 destinations by the end of the decade.
Currently, Riyadh Air has formed alliances with eight different airlines, including Turkish Airlines, and has ambitious plans to generate 200,000 employment opportunities, underpinned by an order of 132 aircraft. On its maiden voyage, the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, registered as HZ-RXX and previously part of Oman Air’s fleet, was managed on the ground in Istanbul by Havas.
