Employees of Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL) staged a peaceful protest in front of Ukku Admin Bhavan, organised by the All-Party Struggle Committee, to address ongoing issues. Their primary demands included the withdrawal of the proposed four labour codes by the Central government and integrating RINL into the Steel Authority of India Limited. Additionally, they called for the full operational capacity of RINL, removal of financial penalties on workers, retention of the current workforce size, restoration of house rent allowance (HRA), waiver of electricity charges, and cessation of staff reduction through transfer measures.
Prominent leaders such as D. Adinarayana Rao, Ayodhya Ram, K. Satyanarayana, and Varasala Srinivas articulated these demands during the demonstration.
Specifically, they urged the immediate announcement of RINL’s merger with SAIL, safeguarding the rights of affected employees, and discontinuing steel privatisation. The protesters voiced concerns that the government’s introduction of four labour codes would diminish workers’ rights and stressed the need to augment the workforce for optimal production at RINL and ensure timely wage disbursement..
