Richard Osman has shared the "truth" about how much alcohol is actually enjoyed by guests while filming Saturday Kitchen . The television presenter and author recently appeared on the hit BBC show alongside host Matt Tebbutt , chefs Anna Haugh and Sophie Wyburd, and drinks expert Olly Smith. The show saw the group enjoying a Rosé La Forcadiere, which is mentioned in Richard’s book, We Solve Murders.

Each week Olly pairs a wine with the dish host Matt whips up for the famous faces appearing on the show. However, celebrities and presenters never appear tipsy during the early morning broadcast. Richard has now revealed the people on set only taste “a little bit” of the wine and food whipped up in the famous kitchen.

Speaking on The Rest Is Entertainment podcast, he said: “I think they have a rehearsal for the chefs and things like that, because it’s quite technical, and I know they do drink the wine during the rehearsal because when we were drinking the wine on the show, someone said, ‘this tastes so much better than it did earlier because it’s been allowed to breathe’ “The truth is, you don’t drink an awful lot of it. So they will bring over the food, and you don’t eat a lot of the food either, you will have a mouthful of the food. “Olly Smith, he was the wine expert when I was on it and just for each dish, so maybe there’s four bottles of wine you try, but you only have a little sip.
