Judy Finnigan and Richard Madeley will 'never divorce' despite struggling at times in their marriage. The journalist duo tied the knot almost four decades ago and have stayed together throughout the highs and lows of life. According to their daughter, Chloe Madeley , their secret is simply sticking at it.

In a new interview this week , Chloe said "there have been periods where they really struggled", but it was never "bad enough for them to split". Richard and Judy met in the '80s whilst working as reporters for ITV and from the get-go, they shared an instant attraction. But they were both married to other people, and as a mum to twins, Judy was cautious about letting Richard in.

Here, the Mirror takes a look back at their early days and Richard's unfaithful first marriage...

Richard met Judy when he joined Granada to present alongside Judy and Tony Wilson, who at eight years his senior was the more experienced journalist. "I remember the first time I saw him. He walked into the newsroom and I was sitting at my desk at the other end," Judy recalled of their fateful first meeting.

"I remember exactly what he was wearing: a pale blue linen suit. I thought he looked nice. Tall, handsome and all that but I thought the suit was a bit flash.
