Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has broken his silence after allegations he engaged in an affair with a political reporter emerged last week.

New York Magazine reporter Olivia Nuzzi announced last Thursday she was placed on leave from the publication after admitting to engaging in a romantic relationship with someone who was formerly relevant to the 2024 presidential campaign. The 31-year-old reporter admitted the "nature of some communications between myself and a former reporting subject turned personal”. Nuzzi did not mention the 70-year-old by name, however it has been widely reported the subject in question was Kennedy, who she visited at his California home in November 2023 to write an article while he was campaigning for the 2024 presidency.

The reporter claimed the relationship was "never physical", while a source told the New York Post the pair were "allegedly sexting" despite Kennedy being married to actress Cheryl Hines and Nuzzi being engaged to Politico reporter Ryan Lizza. Kennedy was forced to address the rumours on Fox News on Wednesday, with host Martha MacCallum asking him if he had an explanation to give his supporters for his behaviour.
