Even with disruptions in the weather, the much anticipated Blankets and Wine 2024 edition happened over the weekend at Lugogo Grounds to the amusement of the different revellers from all walks of life who thronged the venue. The organisers lived up to their promise of a two-stage (Blankets stage and Onja Onja) experience for revellers to choose where they wanted to have the fun and indeed, they (revellers) kept switching from one stage to the other but the Blankets stage caught more of their attention as that is where the main action was. At about 9 pm, Joshua Baraka took to the stage and did most of his songs, while emphasising how his was a ‘Baraka Jam Session.

’ This is when the rains started to intensify. After the Naome singer had done most of his songs, he did freestyles of Konshens & Romain Virgo’s We No Worry Bout Them, Shaggy’s It Wasn’t Me and Dirtsman’s Hot this year. Later, members of the Blu3 (Cindy, Lillian and Jackie) took turns to the stage doing two solo songs each.

Before the trio came back to the stage as a group, a backup artist did Iryn Namubiru’s Nkwagala Nnyo which people sang along passionately. Just when the rains thought they would deter people from having fun, the numbers kept increasing each time that went by. The group did most of their songs such as Nzijukira, Kankyakyankye, Ndayila Sanyu Lyange, Strong Woman, and paid tribute to the Late Mozey Radio by doing Where You Are.
