Tweet Facebook Mail A retail worker has been verbally abused while attempting to stop a pair of alleged thieves from shoplifting at a popular outlet complex in Melbourne's north yesterday. The worker, Jeng, told 3AW Breakfast the man and woman entered the Essendon DFO store about 5.30pm before they started collecting items and shoving them inside their bags.

"A male and female couple were very intimidating (as they) strolled into a store and filled their bags with almost $2000 worth of stock," a caller told 3AW's Rumour File. "While doing this they were confronted by a casual staff member who demanded they leave the goods and get out. "They refused, pushed up on her, told her to f*** off and to get out of the way as she tried to stop them from leaving and they then strolled out of the complex.

(3AW) Security was called to the store following the incident and a police report is expected to be filed today. Essendon DFO has been approached for comment.
