The last remaining restaurant in a top TV's chef's chain is closing its doors after 33 years. Locals have been left shocked and gutted after news broke that Simon Rimmer 's Greens restaurant was to shut the last standing establishment. The branch shared the sad news on its Facebook page, with Sale locals leaving devastated responses in the comments section.

Alongside a broken heart emoji, the branch shared: "It is with deep regret that the board of directors have decided to close the doors permanently on Greens Sale with immediate effect. We've done everything possible to make this work, but it is now clear the business is untenable." The announcement concluded: "We'd like to thank everyone, team members & guests, who have been on the Greens journey with us.

" The news came as a hammer blow to the community as one user wrote: "Totally gutted, my go to place since the 1990’s. Such a shock that both restaurants closed with immediate effect. Hope everyone is ok.

" Another added: "Oh god, this is so sad, my absolute favourite restaurant of all time, " alongside a string of crying face emojis. A third added: "Omg! I am so shocked and sad to read this x," while a fourth penned: "what a real shame! Loved dining here x" The dining spot in Sale, Manchester, had become a popular place for vegans and vegetarians, with one user saying there was now no suitable option for them now Greens was shutting. While the latest version of Greens was opened by Simon and business partner Simon Connel.
