Residents say they feel "imprisoned" in their homes after being fenced in by a developer. Old garages between Gravelly Crescent and Daniel Close, Lancing, were demolished several months ago to make way for new modular housing . But since then, work has come to a halt and residents say they are unable to exit the rear of their properties due to fencing put up around the site.

Concerns have been raised about potential fire risks. One resident in Shadwells Road expressed his frustration at the situation. He has not been able to access his garden from the back since May.

“There’s been no communication about what’s been going on,” he said. “We don’t know what the next steps are. “It’s very frustrating.
