Pune: City commissioner of police (CP) Amitesh Kumar on Thursday said school authorities must report issues of sexual harassment of children on their premises and during related transit without any delays, else they would face legal action. The top cop added, “We will also register cases against police personnel as co-accused if they do not register cases. We will not tolerate delays in reporting or registration of complaints, especially of sexual harassment of schoolchildren.

” The Pune police, ZP education wing, RTO and other govt agencies jointly organised a programme to discuss issues around sexual harassment of children in schools at Ganesh Kala Krida Manch in Swargate on Thursday morning. Many school authorities attended. Kumar said, “Autos can carry only five children.

If schools spot a violation they must inform RTO and the police. Parents must also be vigilant.” Regional transport officer Archana Gaikwad said, “Schools can alert us if students indulge in underage driving of two-wheelers.

” Officials also asked schools to install CCTV cameras and complaint boxes for students, and conduct character verifications of all employees. Police representatives will visit schools, said the CP, adding that action will be taken against paan and cigarette stalls in a 100m radius around schools.
