Ahmedabad: Transporters and travellers faced severe delays on National Highway 8 , near the Maharashtra border , due to a political rally and heavy rain. The congestion began around 10am due to the rally and lasted for about two hours. As the situation began to improve, heavy rain hit, exacerbating the traffic slowdown.
Mukesh Dave, president of Akhil Gujarat Truck Transport Association (AGTTA), said, “Many truckers were forced to halt or even return to their initial destinations due to the traffic snarls. As it began raining around 3pm, traffic continued to pile up near the junction. Local police officials had to intervene to clear traffic.
