Rajinikanth is one of the big-screen legends of Indian cinema, having entertained audiences for decades with his skill, talent, and signature mannerisms. His last release, Jailer, minted Rs 600 crore at the global box office, setting a high benchmark for his future films. However, his latest film, Vettaiyan , is receiving a more subdued response from the audience, making it unlikely to break Jailer 's Day 1 record.

Anees Bazmee's JAW-DROPPING Revelation About Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3's Leading Lady: Is It Madhuri Dixit? With less than 24 hours remaining before the film’s release, Vettaiyan has sold tickets worth just over Rs 10 crore so far. If one adds the block bookings, the total ticket sales rise to Rs 16.57 crore.

Based on these numbers, the film is expected to take an opening in India in the range of Rs 25 crore, which is lower than some of Rajinikanth’s past releases like Annaatthe and Petta. Rajinikanth’s last release, Jailer, collected Rs 48.35 crore on its opening day and went on to earn Rs 348 crore in India alone.

Even Annaatthe had an opening of Rs 29.9 crore and crossed Rs 100 crore at the box office, while Darbar opened to Rs 30.80 crore and grossed nearly Rs 150 crore.

Vettaiyan will be clashing with Alia Bhatt and Vedang Raina 's Jigra and Rajkummar Rao and Triptii Dimri's Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video from October 11. The film will mark the much-anticipated reunion of Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan on the big screen after 32 years, their last collaboration .
