Rajesh Khanna was called the first superstar of Hindi cinema. His stardom was unparalleled and is remembered even after he passed away. During his later days, when Khanna did not have much work on the movie front, he was offered to be a contestant on ' Bigg Boss '.

The makers of the television show had offered him a whopping amount of Rs 3.5 crore per episode. But he refused it.

This information was revealed by a veteran journalist Ali Peter John who has now passed away. Ali had said this when he was interviewed by Rediff. The journalist had said, "Once, the makers of Bigg Boss called me to fix a meeting with him; they wanted him in the Bigg Boss house.

But he said, "Nahin, nahin, Rajesh Khanna aise show thodi karega." He also mentioned that he tried to convince Khanna to take it up but he was hell-bent on not doing it. Much later, Rajesh Khanna had changed his mind and decided to accept the offer, but by then, the channel was no longer interested to have him on the show.

Ali also had recalled meeting the superstar in his last days. He said that he met Khanna just two months before he passed away. The legendary actor had told Ali Peter John, "Agar Ghalib daaru peekar mar sakta hai, toh main kyon nahin?" Khanna passed away on July 18, 2012.

His health had been deteriorating since July 2011 when he was diagnosed with cancer, a fact revealed by his co-star Mumtaz after his death..
