The veteran radio announcer, 89, was being interviewed by the Daily Telegraph when he was asked about how to improve the Australian media industry. 'Oh, get rid of a few people that are a pain in the a***,' he said, before launching into his assessment of Kyle, 53, who hosts the popular KIIS FM breakfast show The Kyle and Jackie O Show.

Laws, who has been on-air for over 70 years, thinks Kyle is 'a talent'. 'I happen to like Kyle. I think he is very interesting and he is no dill.

He likes to give the impression that he is a dill.' In fact, Laws likes Kyle so much that he admitted to a very kind gesture when the KIIS FM shock jock married Tegan Kynaston . 'I sent him a wedding present,' said the talkback star.

The veteran radio announcer recently announced his retirement, saying that 70 years in the business is 'long enough'.
