Monday, January 27, 2025 Quintana Roo announces plans to add 25,000 new hotel rooms, solidifying its position as a global tourism leader and boosting sustainable development. Governor Mara Lezama has announced an ambitious initiative to enhance Quintana Roo’s position as a global tourism leader with the addition of 25,000 new hotel rooms in the Mexican Caribbean. This development is set to further bolster the region’s reputation as a premier destination for travelers worldwide.
Earlier this week, Governor Lezama held a pivotal meeting with Mark Hoplamazian, CEO and President of Hyatt Hotels Corporation, and Encarna Piñero, Executive Vice President and CEO of Grupo Piñero. The discussions culminated in a landmark agreement to construct these new hotel rooms, marking a significant milestone for the state’s tourism industry. Governor Lezama described the collaboration as a strategic alliance aimed at strengthening Quintana Roo’s tourism infrastructure.
She noted that the addition of these rooms is projected to increase hotel reservations by up to 30%, further elevating the state’s appeal on the international stage. This initiative underscores Quintana Roo’s ongoing efforts to cater to growing global demand while maintaining its status as a top-tier tourist destination. The planned expansion will not only provide more options for travelers but also enhance the overall visitor experience in the region.
