Pune: Rainfall activity remained subdued in the district on Friday compared to the previous two days, according to India Meteorological Department (IMD) officials. Sporadic rainfall was recorded in the city and surrounding places. The intensity of rain in the outskirts remained moderate, said met officials.
A senior official from the IMD told TOI, "The rainfall intensity over the Madhya Maharashtra region will reduce from Saturday onwards. The influence of the upper air circulation, which was present over the region, is expected to reduce due to its northwestward movement." Cloudy skies will prevail over the city for the next few days, said the official, adding that Pune city is expected to get light rain till Oct 2.
On Friday, the city witnessed cloudy conditions throughout the day. However, not much rain was witnessed across areas. Trace rainfall was recorded at multiple locations.
Due to their milder intensity, the monsoon conditions did not disturb vehicular traffic movement, such as reported earlier this week. IMD observatories in Shivajinagar and Lohegaon recorded 1.2mm and 1mm rainfall, respectively.
Meanwhile, the ghat sections of Pune recorded moderate rainfall in isolated places, with Lonavla recording 70mm and Mulshi 13mm, said met officials. Because of cloudy weather conditions, the city recorded a dip in day temperatures of over 2 degrees Celsius, added officials..
