Pune: MP Supriya Sule of NCP (SCP) on Sunday said Pune district has become the “crime capital” of the state . Sule was interacting with reporters in Daund in the context of last week’s brutal murder of a youth, Suraj Bhujbal, near a shop at Nagmodi Chowk in Khamgaon under Daund tehsil. The attack with cleavers was caught on camera, and has since created ripples due to its violent nature.

NCP (SCP) had organised a ‘Shiv Swarajya rally’ in Daund on Sunday to raise a voice against state and Union govts. Speaking here, Sule said, “The attack in Khamgaon and other serious crimes show that criminal activities have increased in Pune district. State home minister must take these matters seriously.

State is also taking cybercrime very casually,” she said, referring to her own complaint of her cellphone and WhatsApp account being hacked. The Baramati MP also said the Ajit Pawar-led NCP should clear its stand about Waqf Board Act changes . On the ongoing reservation issue, Sule said a constitutional amendment will be needed to give quota to different communities.

“However, parties like BJP are showing double standards when it comes to giving reservation to communities like the Dhangars. They don’t have the same stand in state and Union govts,” she said, adding, “There is a lot of resentment among communities about the issue of reservations. The state govt should take steps to reduce the anger among these communities.
