A ban on alcohol in public will make Scarborough streets safer, council and police officials have said. The ban will also “support local businesses and create a welcoming place for residents and visitors alike”.
North Yorkshire Council and North Yorkshire Police will be introducing the Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) in Scarborough next Tuesday (October 15). The move is part of the council’s wider, co-ordinated approach to support the community and businesses in the town. The new order covers most of Scarborough and enables council officers and the police to work together to proactively combat anti-social behaviour.
