PlayStation has officially announced a “Technical Presentation” with Mark Cerny, Lead System Architect for the PS4 and PS5, which will more than likely be the official reveal for the . As announced, the presentation takes place on at 8:00 am PT, and it will last for around nine minutes. While PlayStation has not specifically confirmed this as the PS5 Pro reveal, it would incredibly surprising if it wasn’t.

Recently, a sketch leaked of this device, and that same design popped up as a teaser in the PlayStation 30th Anniversary – possibly as an easter egg for those who’ve been watching news of the console closely. It’s also hard to think what else a presentation focus on “PS5 and innovations in gaming technology” could refer to. After months of rumours about its existence and design, it seems the PS5 Pro will finally get its chance in the sun.

We’ll also finally get more of an idea of what this console is, and how it will improve on its successor. Given the PS5 is already a very capable machine, and one that chews through the last games with nary a whisper of protest or fan noise, the idea of a PS5 Pro seems quite staggering. It’s currently unclear what games will take full advantage of this higher-specced console, and what extra power or visual capability it would allow for.

There’s also the matter of cost in a so-called “cost of living” crisis. For a PS5 Pro to succeed in a very tight market, it will need to be markedly different from its predecessor,.
