Prayagraj: The ambitious project of operating a toy train inside the premises of the Chandrashekhar Azad Park (commonly called Company Garden ) and the plan to open a canteen has been put on hold, despite the fact that tenders have been floated for both these works. This follows a letter written by the former judge of Allahabad High Court, Justice Amar Saran , to the divisional commissioner, wherein Justice Saran has pointwise mentioned why commercial activities cannot be allowed inside the premises of this huge park, also mentioned as the ‘lungs of the city'. "I have received a representation from the former judge, and a meeting would be held on the issue very soon.

The entire issue will be discussed and suitable action would be taken after that," said divisional commissioner Vijay Vishwas Pant . Earlier, it was decided to install swings along with the toy train in Azad Park. Along with this, there was also a proposal to build canteens at two places.

Tenders have been done for these and the work was to commence. The proposal for fees for these services was prepared. It just had to be placed in the committee for approval.

However, the district administration has sought legal advice on the issue. Further process will be started on the basis of legal advice..
