Princess Anne shocked a whole audience while speaking on the BBC back in the 70's. The dedicated equestrian was being quizzed about her horse riding skills when she made a bit of an x-rated joke. Channel 5 aired Princess Anne: The Power Behind the Throne this evening (November 16) as it followed the Royal Family's cornerstone and her iconic 50 years of redefining service.
From her Olympic achievements to her love life, the insightful documentary left no stone unturned as it showed archive footage from the Princess' younger days. In the studio for Sports Personality of the Year, during an interview on the BBC back in 1971, a young Princess Anne showed off her wit and charm and excellent sense of humour - Much to the joy of the presenter and studio audience. She was asked how much time she has for training and what she does.
The royal family member replied: "Well normally speaking I just rely on the amount of riding I manage to do to keep me fit, but on that particular occasion I didn't summon up enough energy to do some extra exercises." The presenter asked if she gets up early morning to carry out her training. She smirked as she cheekily replied: "Well actually it was late at night.
" The audience erupted into laughter at her witty remark. The interview came after Anne won a gold medal in a competition in 1971 for her horseriding at the European Eventing Championship at Burghley. She competed with her home-bred horse, Doublet, and led from the front throughout the event.
