The Holy Trinity Catholic High School volleyball team is right where it wants to be. Since its inception in 2005, Holy Trinity has advanced to the SEI Super Conference Tournament all 20 years. The Crusaders kept their streak alive in impressive fashion, sweeping Louisa-Muscatine, Hillcrest Academy and Van Buren County in pool play Thursday at Shottenkirk Gymnasium.
Now, Class 1A's fourth-ranked Holy Trinity (15-5) will try to make it to the championship match for the 15th straight year on Saturday at Loren Walker Arena in West Burlington. Holy Trinity will play Central Lee in the quarterfinals at 5 p.m.
The winner will play either Highland or Wapello in the semifinals. The bottom half of the bracket has Hillcrest Academy playing Class 2A's 10th-ranked West Burlington in the quarterfinals at 5 p.m.
and Mediapolis playing Burlington Notre Dame in the second match. Holy Trinity beat Louisa-Muscatine, 21-4, 21-7, downed Hillcrest Academy, 21-12, 21-4 and beat Van Buren County, 21-9, 21-17. In other pool play matches at Shottenkirk Gymnasium, Van Buren County beat Louisa-Muscatine, 21-16, 21-12, Hillcrest Academy beat Louisa-Muscatine, 21-15, 21-11 and Hillcrest Academy downed Van Buren County, 21-11, 22-20.
Teagan Snaadt had seven assists, six aces and 20 digs for the Crusaders. Adalyn Kruse had five kills, two assists, four aces, 13 digs and one block. Olivia Bendlage had 14 kills, one assist, one ace and 18 digs.
Emma Mohrfeld had four kills and three digs. Presley Myers had 15.
