NORTH LOGAN — It was a trying first 40 minutes of action for the Wolves, but, to their credit, they refused to panic and wilt under the pressure. Green Canyon put it all together in the second half and scored a trio of goals in the final 21 minutes en route to a come-from-behind 3-1 victory over Park City in the quarterfinals of the 4A Girls Soccer State Championships on late Thursday afternoon. It was a rematch of last year’s state title tilt, also won by the Wolves.

“Especially in the second half, you could feel it was coming,” GC head coach Kirt Sadler said. “..

. You could feel it was coming because they (the Miners) were getting tired. You could just see it in their eyes and the more we kept the ball, the more tired they got.

I mean, honestly, these guys like keeping me stressed ...

but the best part about this team is when we’ve gotten down ...

no matter what happens these guys don’t really panic. They just keep fighting and working.” Indeed, it was a gratifying second-half rally for the defending state champions, who earned another shot at Region 11 champion Mountain Crest in next Monday’s first semifinal showdown.

The top-seeded Mustangs (17-1) handed the fourth-seeded Wolves (17-3) two of their three regular-season setbacks. This will be the second time in the last three seasons these two rivals have squared off in the round of four. “We’re excited,” GC forward Kyleigh Hastings said.

“We’ve been looking forward to getting a rematch. I think.
