Hospitality heavyweights Prendiville Group are expanding a favourite and very colourful fundraiser beyond Cottesloe this year, with 15 of its Perth and regional WA pubs turning pink and purple for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Growing on ‘The Cott Goes Pink’ efforts at the iconic beach hotel last October, executive director Warwick Prendiville confirmed other venues across the State - from the Tradewinds Hotel in Fremantle to the Mangrove Hotel in Broome - have bought into the Breast Cancer Care WA action this month. “We were pretty surprised to see the level of engagement last year .
.. our customers and staff really got behind us,” Mr Prendiville said.
“So it gave us a lot of confidence this year to go bigger.” The venues — Hotel Rottnest, Samphire and Lontara on our favourite holiday Island, Cottesloe Beach Hotel, Fremantle’s Pier 21 and Norfolk Hotel, and more — have offers for guests to support the ‘Go Pink’ initiative throughout October. One of these includes the choice for hotel guests to forgo daily room cleaning services, with the hoteliers then donating $5 to BCCWA for every guest that chooses to do so.
And at Cottesloe Beach Hotel and Broome’s Mangrove Hotel, a “Wall of Support,” will be erected where guests can donate their bras to the wall, with each resulting in a further $5 donation and an eye-catching show of solidarity. “We’re including a lot of those eco-friendly style initiatives across the hotels, to tie it into the whole .
