PRAYAGRAJ: The Sangam city reported a decline in dengue cases , with only three new infections diagnosed in the past 48 hours. This brings the total number of cases in the city to 296 since January. Ironically, the month of October alone recorded the highest number of 194 dengue cases.

District malaria officer (Prayagraj) AK Singh told TOI, "The city witnessed a decline in both dengue and viral fever cases at government and private hospitals, as well as medical clinics." He, however, said, "Dengue cases will completely terminate next week, as far as statistics are concerned." He claimed, "As part of measures to combat vector-borne diseases, officials conducted a survey of approximately 1,38,900 homes and surrounding areas, identifying mosquito breeding conditions in terms of larva spots in 7,300 homes, leading to corrective measures being initiated.

" The DMO said, "Apart from unused articles, other unused items, such as flower pots, rotten tires, and potholes, were found to be the second most common spots for mosquito breeding." He suggested that people use mosquito repellent measures to protect themselves from dengue and other vector-borne infections. Health officials, meanwhile, pointed out that the caseload of dengue started dropping due to the onset of winter and the subsequent lowest reproduction rate among mosquitoes.
