Prayagraj: For the first time, both sides at Prayag Junction and Phaphamau Junction of Northern Railways (NR) will be equipped with holding areas for passengers expected to come for Maha Kumbh . The holding areas will have restroom facilities , water supply and other essential amenities for the passengers to stay and rest. Moreover, preparations have been made to establish food stalls and ticket counters within these areas.

The Lucknow division of Northern Railway has discussed the construction of holding areas on both sides of these stations as part of the ongoing development work at Prayag and Phaphamau stations. During the previous Kumbh, only one side holding area was constructed at each station. This time, considering the anticipated crowd during the Maha Kumbh, the railway administration has made arrangements to construct holding areas on both sides of the respective stations.

During the inspection of Prayag and Phaphamau stations last week, General Manager, NR, Shobun Chaudhary directed the construction of sheds, boundary walls, and other infrastructure in the holding areas at both stations to be completed by November 24. In another important development, due to the ongoing track doubling work between Prayagraj Jhunsi and Prayagraj Junction, 17 trains, including Chauri Chaura Express, will not stop at Rambagh railway station until August 13.
